LAMP Theological Seminary

After establishing the Learning Site in your particular area, you will be ready to start offering LAMP courses. The Learning Site will be sent a syllabus containing the overall course description, examples of where to order the materials for the course and an assignment schedule which is usually twelve lessons. (See Sample syllabus on the Right Column)

LAMP utilizes a quarter credit system instead of a semester credit system which allows the majority of the courses to be twelve lessons. LAMP has discovered that the “one course at a time" or "block schedule" system fits better into the normal flow of everyday life.

The final pages of every syllabus will include an Assignment Schedule for the student to follow. Every course is divided into five components (reading, listening to an audio seminary lecture, writing, memorization and a discussion/dialog session). The student(s) is encouraged to take one course at a time and to do two lessons a week on their own time (reading, listening, writing and memorization). After completing the two lessons, the student(s) meets with a Class Facilitator (usually a Teaching Elder/pastor) once a week for two hours to discuss the lesson material. Facilitator Guides are available to help the Class Facilitator have a productive dialog session. The Class Facilitator is not a seminary professor because the student has heard a seminary lecture during the audio assignment but he does guide the discussion to answer questions and the make sure that the student has a gasp of the material. The Class Facilitator is encouraged to share personal insights and any work he has done on the subject with the student(s). Each course is complete with an overall assignment (paper or project) and a final exam.

LAMP has streamline the process for churche(s) and presbyteries to become a Learning Site. All you need is at least one student and one ordained minister. The process is as follows:

Submit Application
List Local Leadership and Potential Students
Submit a strategy plan (what purpose will LAMP fulfill- i.e. train church planters, staff, etc.)
Application fee -LAMP wants to make sure our program is right for you. You can test one of our courses before you sign up as an official learning site

GLEE stands for Guided Learning Evaluation and Experience. The GLEE program is designed to address the five “C’s” of the LAMP training throughout the student’s preparation for ministry. These are Calling, Character, Competency, Context and Credentialing. The GLEE program involves aspects of discipleship, counseling, friendship and tutoring. What brings it all together is “mentoring.” For more information about GLEE's, please see the following short video.

At the normal recommended pace the student will finish one course every six-seven weeks and six to seven courses a year. At this pace the overall program can be completed in six years. A Learning Sites can request an accelerated completion schedule from LAMP Headquarters.
